GENERAL POLICIES

Introduction

At La Guarida, we believe that clear and fair policies ensure the best experience for our students, teachers, and community. Our guidelines are designed to create a respectful, organized, and reliable learning environment for everyone involved.

General Policies

Discrimination and Respect

La Guarida is a shared, inclusive learning space. All classes are open to everyone who wishes to learn in a respectful environment. Any form of discrimination, intimidation, or harassment will not be tolerated. Students who violate these principles may be asked to leave the program without the possibility of a refund.

To maintain a positive and productive environment for all:

  • Please arrive on time for your classes.

  • Be respectful of your classmates’ learning process and the teacher’s time.

  • If you have concerns about your class or experience, speak with us—we are always open to dialogue and solutions within the framework of these policies.

Holidays

Regular group classes are not held on official Mexican holidays. Students will be notified of these dates in advance.

If students are interested in taking classes on holidays, teachers will only be available for private classes and the cost for these will be at double the normal rate.

If La Guarida Cancels a Class

If La Guarida or one of our teachers cancels a class, students will be offered a make-up session for that class.

Refunds

No refunds are issued once classes have started.

Credit Validity

  • For in-person classes: If you need to reschedule, the credit for that class is valid for up to 1 month for another in-person session. If you wish to switch the missed in-person class to an online class, the credit will remain valid for up to 6 months.

  • For online classes: Credits for canceled classes are valid for a maximum of 6 months from the date of the original class.

How to Cancel a Class

Cancellations must be communicated by email or WhatsApp directly to the teacher or the school.

In-Person Classes

  • To reserve classes, a deposit of $1,000 MXN in cash or $1,100 MXN via PayPal is required. This deposit is non-refundable. $1,000 MXN is applied toward your class fee, and $100 MXN is a processing fee (waived if you pay in person).

  • Single in-person hourly classes must be paid in advance in cash or via PayPal ($435 MXN)

Group Classes

  • Group classes are paid weekly in cash on Monday (or through PayPal with an 8% processing fee).

  • A discount is available for up-front payments for group classes.

  • Classes run Monday to Friday. There are no cancellations or daily schedule changes once the week begins. In case a student misses a class, it will not be made up since it is a group schedule.

  • To cancel or postpone an upcoming week, notice must be given by Friday at 2:00 PM (Oaxaca time).

If there is no group at your level:

We will provide 2 hours of private classes if there are no conversation groups at your level.

Private Program and Private Hourly Classes

  • Private in-person classes are also paid weekly in cash (or via PayPal with an 8% fee).

  • If a new student's plans change and need to cancel the whole program, it should be canceled with at least 36 hours’ notice, students receive credit for three hours of online classes.

  • If a current class is canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, the class will be considered given and charged in full.

  • If a student does not show up without notice, the class will be considered given.

Lateness – Group and Private Classes

If a student arrives late, the class will still end at the scheduled time. Missed minutes cannot be made up.

If the teacher arrives late, the missed time will be made up during that session or another agreed-upon class.

Online Classes

  • Classes must be paid in advance (hourly or by package)

  • For online classes we have 2 payment options:

    1. PayPal (no fee) - We will send you the invoice

    2. Wise (please ensure MXN is selected as the receiving currency) - We will send you the bank information.

Private Online Classes

  • If canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, 50% of the class cost will be charged.

  • If the student does not show up without notice, the full class will be charged.

Lateness

  • Teachers will wait up to 15 minutes for the student to join. After that, the class will be considered given.

  • If the teacher is late, the missed time will be made up during that session or another agreed-upon class.

Group Online Classes

  • Group classes can be rescheduled if all participants agree and provide at least 24 hours’ notice.
